My hotspot shows up in the available WiFi list and shows as "on" but it fails every time. The phone is a Windows Phone 8 device and hasn't been updated since I installed W10 on my laptop, so only the laptop has changed. I can still connect my Windows 7 desktop to the phone's hotspot so I'm sure Windows 10 is the issue.

I used the option and my Laptop connected to the Internet. My question Is my laptop using my mobile data (would not like as it would get exhausted quickly and speed is slow) OR I was able to get a hotspot working fine with a Lightning to USB cable to the same laptop so I know the hotspot function works. To set up the test I disabled WiFi and Bluetooth on the iPhone and MacBook to avoid either device from looking elsewhere for the internet.
