I have windows 10 home on a home network connected to an ASUS AC3200 router. The router has provisions for connecting a printer to it for sharing printer jobs. In order to do this, the printer port has to be set as an LPR port. The problem is that the laptop now wont stay awake if left idle and wont totally shut down either. I wanted to use this as a wireless print server in the following way: attach my old, non-wireless printer to this ASUS router. Have this ASUS router talk with my gateway router wirelessly. Have all my laptops which get Internet through the gateway router be able to print wirelessly through the ASUS router. I know that Asus router is able to act as print server via usb port. Just install the printer driver and Asus print sever driver on each pc/laptop. One thing i notice, it doesn't work on Windows 8.1 as Asus print sever is not supported.
